Making Glossy Button
1. Open a new document or create a new layer.
2. Use the Rounded Rectangle Tool to draw a rectangle.

3. Then select the pixels by clicking the text layer and holding down
the command button (not sure for windows). Then move the selection upwards
till about half of the selection overlaps the rectangle.
4. With the selection moved upwards press command+shift and click on
the rectangle layer. This will subtract the rectangle pixels from your
selection.
5. Your selection should look like the above.
6. Now move your selection to align the top of with the top edge of
the rectangle. Then go to Select/Modify/Contract and contract the selection
by 2 pixels.
7. Now with white as your foreground color do a transparent gradient
(white to transparent) and do a gradient from the top of the selection
to the bottom of the selection.
8. Repeat steps 1-6 for the bottom of the button. This time use a light
grey instead of white to add a soft hi lite to the inside bottom of
the button.
This is what your button should look like, add some text or use colors
to create buttons for any use.
